Exchange, Returns, Cancellations, and Service Policies
Effective Date: July 26, 2026This policy describes Maison Amrit's terms for cancellations, order modifications, returns, exchanges, manufacturing defects, and the Lifetime Exchange & Upgrade program. Because our business model is zero-inventory and made-to-order (MTO), these terms differ from standard retail return policies.
1. The 24-Hour Cool-Off & Order Modifications
We offer a 24-hour cool-off period from the exact time your order is placed.
- Cancellation: Within this 24-hour window, you may cancel your order for a full refund.
- Modifications & Add-ons: Within this 24-hour window, you may modify your original order (for example, change ring size, upgrade metal purity, or add matching bands). Additional charges for modifications are collected upfront or prior to delivery.
- Post 24-Hour Cancellations: Because your piece is made to order, once the 24-hour window closes, metal is cut and labor is deployed. Cancellations after 24 hours are subject to a pro-rata cancellation fee based on the manufacturing stage already reached. This deduction compensates the labor and materials already committed to your piece. The remaining balance is refunded to your original payment source.
2. Returns & Exchanges (Ready-to-Ship vs. Made-to-Order)
We do not offer refunds for buyer's remorse, because the majority of our catalog is manufactured specifically for you.
- Made-to-Order (MTO) & Bespoke: These items are crafted to your specifications and are non-returnable and non-exchangeable. If you wish to part with an MTO piece in the future, it falls under our Lifetime Exchange & Upgrade Policy (Section 4).
- Ready-to-Ship Items: Exchanges are valid only on items explicitly listed on our website as "Ready-to-Ship." These can be exchanged within 15 days of delivery, provided they are unworn, undamaged, and the tamper-evident hygiene/security tag is fully intact. If this tag is removed or altered, the exchange will be rejected.
3. Manufacturing Defects & Transit Damage
If you receive an item with a genuine manufacturing defect:
- All manufacturing defects or transit damage must be clearly captured in the mandatory, continuous, unedited unboxing video at the exact moment of opening the package.
- You must share this documentation with our customer care team within 24 hours of delivery.
- Once verified, Maison Amrit will arrange a secure pickup at our cost, repair the item, and ship it back to you. We do not offer refunds for repairable defects.
4. Exchange & Upgrade Policy
If you wish to upgrade your Maison Amrit jewelry to a new design, we offer a structured exchange program. We do not offer cash buybacks. This policy applies strictly to exchanging your existing piece for credit toward a new purchase from us.
Making Charges & Gold Pass-Through
Precious metals are treated as a pass-through material and billed at prevailing market rates; Maison Amrit does not profit from the raw gold itself. Our business model relies on Making Charges.
- Making charges compensate for artisan labor, craftsmanship, and the manufacturing steps required to bring a design to life.
- These charges are calculated based on the total quantity and purity of the metal used, and vary depending on design complexity.
- Making charges represent consumed labor and resources. They are non-refundable and are excluded from all exchange and upgrade valuations.
Appraisals & Third-Party Valuations
Maison Amrit provides independent laboratory certificates (e.g., GIA, IGI) to confirm the authenticity and grading of your Natural Diamonds, Lab-Grown Diamonds, and Natural or Lab-Grown Gemstones. We do not provide official appraisal services for insurance, tax, or third-party valuation purposes. Any valuation determined during our Exchange process is for internal transaction purposes only and does not constitute a formal legal appraisal.
How Gold is Evaluated for Exchange
Gold is evaluated per gram based on its pure gold content, irrespective of its original karat purity (e.g., 14K or 18K). During the standard melting and refining process, a minor loss in physical weight naturally occurs as alloys and impurities are removed. The exchange value is calculated based on the net recovered pure gold weight, multiplied by the prevailing market rate on the day of exchange.
Valuation for Diamonds & Gemstones
Lab-Grown Diamonds purchased from Maison Amrit are valued at 80% of their original invoice value for exchange. Natural Diamonds and Natural or Lab-Grown Gemstones submitted for exchange are valued at Maison Amrit's discretion, based on the stone's original invoice value, condition, and prevailing market conditions at the time of exchange. Original making charges, CAD fees, and applicable taxes are excluded from all valuations.
Diamonds that are custom cut, fancy cut, fancy-shaped, or 5.00 carats and above are not eligible under this program and are evaluated at Maison Amrit's sole discretion, depending on market conditions at the time.
Quality Control Conditions
All items submitted for exchange are subject to a Quality Check by our workshop. The percentage values above are maximums; pro-rata deductions apply if the jewelry is damaged, or if a Natural or Lab-Grown Diamond or Gemstone is missing, chipped, or heavily abraded due to wear and tear.
5. Custom CAD Design Services & Fees
For bespoke creations or significant modifications to existing designs:
- A Custom Design (CAD) fee is paid upfront before our designers begin modeling your piece.
- This fee is non-refundable, as it compensates for designer time, resources, and intellectual property.
- If you approve the design and the custom item purchase is completed, 100% of the CAD fee is credited toward your final invoice amount.
6. Warranties, Plating, & Complimentary Cleaning
- First Resizing: One complimentary ring resizing within the first 15 days of purchase, for designs that structurally allow resizing without compromising the gemstone setting. Not all designs qualify, pieces requiring more extensive work are resized at a nominal charge instead.
- Craftsmanship Warranty: Lifetime warranty against structural manufacturing defects. Repairs necessitated by normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or lost stones incur a nominal repair and material charge.
- Rhodium & Gold-Plating Disclaimer: White gold is coated with Rhodium for a bright white finish; certain pieces may feature gold vermeil or plating. Plating wearing off over time is a natural occurrence, dictated by individual usage, skin chemistry, and exposure to chemicals (perfumes, lotions, soaps). This does not constitute a manufacturing defect. Re-plating services are available at a nominal cost.
- Complimentary Cleaning: Complimentary professional ultrasonic cleaning and polishing is available for your Maison Amrit jewelry. Cleaning does not include repairs. Shipping costs to and from our facility for complimentary cleaning are borne by the customer.
- Third-Party Tampering: Any alteration, resizing, or repair performed by a jeweler other than Maison Amrit voids all warranties and exchange eligibility.
