Growth method, disclosed
The report states the growth method (HPHT or CVD) and any post-growth treatment. Nothing about origin is implied.
Laser inscription, matched to the stone
Most stones are laser-inscribed with the report number, visible under 10x magnification, matching the stone to its paperwork.

Every certificate can be checked directly against IGI or SGL's own database, independent of anything we've told you.

Can a jeweler tell it's lab-grown just by looking?
Not with the naked eye, and not with a standard diamond tester.
A thermal tester confirms the stone is diamond. It cannot distinguish lab-grown from natural.
Under magnification, the laser inscription settles it.
A loupe finds the laser-inscribed report number on the girdle, matched directly to the certificate.
Specialized lab equipment can confirm origin definitively.
Labs use spectroscopy to confirm growth method before issuing a report, printed once, on your certificate.
Certification isn't only about the stone.
